Rather than simply showcasing the clothes on store-front mannequins or paste up sexy advertising photos, Diesel, during NY’s Fall/Winter Fashion Week, asked Paul Pope to create life-sized comics-influenced drawings featuring characters wearing Diesel’s latest designs. Pope created then a baffling larger-than- life diorama / shadowbox for the front window of the SoHo Diesel store – complete with Pope-designed neon signs and a 15 ft. wide skyline representing NYC at night.

Due to the huge success of the pieces at Soho, Pope was called back to layout twelve, 20 x 35 inch, silkscreened prints, displayed in various stores, while simultaneously designing smaller prints for sale.

The artwork mashed-up elements of comic books and fashion, with the drawings lookinglike both graphic novels and fashion sketches at the same time.
